Well, I don’t know about you, but the winter rest period seems to have gone all too quick and the car still has a number of things to be finished on it. The first race meeting is on Sunday, 5 September at Pukekohe and it will be good to see you all back out there. We won’t be running a 1 hour race at the end of the day so you should be all be able to get home nice and early.
Ladies and Gentleman, Start your engines.
Well, I don’t know about you, but the winter rest period
seems to have gone all too quick and the car still has a number of things to be
finished on it. The first race meeting is on Sunday, 5 September at Pukekohe
and it will be good to see you all back out there. We won’t be running a 1 hour
race at the end of the day so you should be all be able to get home nice and
early.
Just a note for those of you that live on the North Shore, I
understand that the Newmarket Viaduct will be closed that weekend so that
anyone coming that way will need to make a detour. Please allow sufficient
time.
The September meeting entry form is out and a copy is
available on the Auckland Car Club website. We are still using the paper entry
system at this stage until the final changes are made to the online entry
system and we hope to be back using that for either the October or November
meeting.
The good news is that we are also working on a revised Auckland
Car Club website and we hope to have this up and running within the next couple
of months so keep an eye out for this.
Finally, as always and as you are aware one of my perennial
areas to chase you on is that we need more Marshalls and Officials. These
volunteers make our race meetings happen so if you know anyone please let me
know and have them get in touch with either me or Debbie Day at the Motorsport
club. For those of you don’t know this it’s a new club that has been set up to
coordinate the volunteers through all levels within motor sport in Auckland and
the Waikato area. Effectively the aim of the club is to improve communication
with our volunteers and more importantly to improve the utilisation of these
people and grow the base further. It is an exciting new venture and with Debbie
at the helm I am sure it will be a very worthwhile cause. At the recent speed
show, Auckland assisted by having Debbie and some of her team on the stand at
the weekend and we managed to get around 50 new people to sign up as
volunteers. We need to do this more often and add a lot more names to that
list.
